As most of you webdesigners already know, designing an internet page may be problematic, especially when talking about large websites with tons of pages. The webdesign itself is usually not the biggest problem, but how to create a proper link structure usually. Part of that complexity is in building up a data structure to display your webcontent and labeling the many links to make that content easy to find when doing the right webdesign creating.

Testing

Last year we noticed just how information structure along with group content label ambiguity made an impact on user effectiveness. They manipulated the actual level and width in the data architecture with users interact with either a three-tiered or a two-tiered composition. In addition to this , they manipulated the categorization with both deep and wide linking as explained on A hjemmeside webdesigner a good page with information on this subject and other web design tips.

They did also observe that users carried out better upon internet sites that has a deep rather than wide structure when the site possessed some good well named labels. In this project the articipants furthermore found things using the ambiguous tags sooner with two tiered linking system in the webdesign. This is because contributors convey more likelihood to get lost inside the three tiered (narrower) structure. The actual investigation reinforces that creating a deep organization design with hundreds of links, they often fails to show the surfers how to the to the product the fastes way possible.

We had to see it all in action to figure out how it worked and was able to use it properly, like they should be.
Product centered corporation acquired higher approval rankings and customers committed a lesser number of mistakes in comparison with the task based corporation. Customers carried out far better and were being a lot more pleased with the product-based business, particularly within the lesser linking structures in a good web wedesign and cms hjemmeside.

The outcome, in this case, just showed, as we belived, that a high quality of labels did have a significant effect on the amount of time needed to perform the job and on the user’s functionality in order to succeed in this test. Many of the customers and users in the high quality label group committed fewer mistakes in locating the product, and located by far a lot more items than customers in the medium and poor quality label groups

While talking to andrew at Aalborg Webdesign he mentioned that this was a typical problem for many new webdesigners.

The actual outcome of our test did demonstrate that internet sites with poorly developed tags cause users to waste their focus trying to imagine and test what various labels meant.

We checked how this did affect users of various ages. Lot of the senior users did indeed have a hard time with the deep structures. They only needed to categorize and tag information making it less complicated for older persons to recognise and thereby taking longer to locate their target information/product.

We should always remember to take that into consideration when building new websites especially sites of a larger scale.

So take a little time to get the overview and plan ahead before just rushing into it, it will save you some time in the long run and you will often end up with a better webdesign for your hjemmeside.
